Qi Gong Research

Both China and the U.S. have hosted conferences for academic exchange of qigong research. Qigong has been shown to improve posture and respiration, induce the relaxation response, cause favorable changes in blood chemistry, and improve self-awareness and concentration. Research suggests that Qigong may be beneficial for Asthma, Arthritis, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Pain, and a wide variety of common ailments. External Qi Healing is effective for the same range of illnesses as acupuncture.

Thousands of Qi Gong clinical experiments have been conducted in China. An increasing number of western laboratories are also exploring the benefits of Qi Gong. Experiments may be divided into two categories:

1. Measuring the effects of self-healing exercises on the course of an illness.

Often Qi Gong is administered as a complement to conventional western medical treatment. This is the case in the first two experiments cited below.

2. Measuring the effects of External Qi Healing on disease.

External Qi Healing experiments may be performed in a test tube where the Qi Gong Master projects Qi and attempts to promote the activity of healthy cells or destroy unhealthy ones. Or the experiments may be performed in living subjects. External Qi Healing may be used as a complementary therapy or by itself.
